In order to control rig functions I have always used flrig. It has worked well the last few years. Then recently I found wfview.

On the IC-7300, wfview can serve as a USB to Ethernet “bridge”, connecting the IC-7300 to the network for remote control and live streaming full-duplex audio using another instance of wfview on a remote computer. The server can be a humble Raspberry Pi or a normal desktop computer.

So there are a couple of advantages to wfview. First is the waterfall. The ability to see the waterfall and tune around like a SDR is great! The second is like SDRconnect, the local version can be enabled to run as a server and a second copy remotely on another computer. What’s even more special about wfview is that I’m able to work SSB/CW/FM in addition to digital modes from the remote computer. This was a big limitation in the way I was operating.

Above is my old iMac running wfview, WSJT-X and GridTracker on 10M via my IC-7300.
